Procurement Specialist


We are seeking an enthusiastic, positive and detail oriented person to join our Accounting team!


This person will take responsibility for purchasing, vendor relationships and inventory management in an efficient and economical manner by following established company policies and procedures.


The primary responsibilities are:

  • Purchase ingredients, packaging and supplies by following established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise daily functions related to material management in support of production and other business requirements.
  • Review vendor pricing, conduct cost analysis and analyse supplier performance.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, working for better pricing, delivery, reliability.
  • Travel to meet with existing vendors or to qualify new vendors as part of the supply chain management process.
  • Work with co-manufacturing partners to schedule delivery and processing of raw materials to meet production schedules and manage inventory levels.
  • Reconcile raw materials inventory to GL and Inventory applications.
  • Assist production planning function by running MS Access queries to update usage spreadsheets.
  • Manage inventories to ensure there are no interruptions in production.
  • Consult with suppliers to obtain price, availability and shipping schedule.
  • Coordinate return of rejected shipments or disposition including managing credits or replacement product.



  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent. Accounting or Business degree preferred but not required.
  • Ability to negotiate the best value for ingredients and supplies with tact and professionalism.
  • Must have experience with procurement sourcing, raw materials, accounting, contract negotiations and logistics, preferably in a food production environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication is required.
  • Understanding of documentation used in a materials environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to be a liaison with vendors.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s and SSOP’s.
  • Experience with supplier auditing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other team members.


  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude, has the ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables with a high attention to detail.
  • Negotiation skills.
